Bacardi Mojito Ad

Click the title of this post to view the ad.

This ad is a great example of tight editing. It moves from close-ups to pull out shots all specifically related to the music. The sex in the ad is obvious and the editing truly enhances the message. The scenes switch quickly and are in line with the music. The most obvious editing in relation to this is when the video moves from the view of the crowd stopping their dancing as the pestle stops moving. Once the pestle begins, the music begins, and the shot goes right back to the crowd dancing. The quickness of the editing -- no fades or slow transitions -- goes with th energy of the ad and the quickness of the music.

Wow, that is one weird ad! You're right, the message of sex is very obvious. I think I've seen something like this on tv, but it must have been shorter and less obviously sexual.

The weird thing to me is that everybody seems to be dancing so much the same, and also everybody kind of looks the same (all the same amount of skinny, and dressed somewhat alike--sort of corporate sexy.)

The sameness makes it feel sort of sanitized. So the sexual message seems both readily apparent, but also kind of strange.

This doesn't have anything to do with your "Bacardi Mojito Ad," but I found it while looking for my own ad, and I wasn't sure where else to post it.

So here it goes:
Flashdance is where it's at!

And if that doesn't work, try cutting and pasting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WtawJ25fzeY
