Evaluating Students Evaluating Me

As Katie and I finish up our final project, a wiki (click here to view wiki) analzying the effects of male media portrayals on boys, I am asked to reflect on how students might judge our wiki. It's an interesting assignment because as I was creating the wiki, I didn't think I knew too much about it. But now that I have worked on it a while, it seems much easier and more familiar to me than I originally thought.

I think some of the evaluation of a wiki should be similar to that of any writing assignment: content; organization; professional presentation; writing skills; grammar.

But some evaluations should be unique to a digital media project. Some of the evaluations I would recommend would be:

• incorporation of different types of media (audio, visual, etc.)
• substantial use of media (something that couldn't be accomplished through print only)
• visual coherence and understandable design
